Summary

Asiimwe Lydia (MPAM, BED) is the administrative manager for the Consortium for Affordable Medical Technologies in Uganda (CAMTech Uganda), based at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). Lydia completed her Master’s degree in Public Administration and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Education of Economics at Uganda Christian University–Mukono. While pursuing her Master’s degree, Lydia gained experience in developing and implementing policies, managing programs, people, budgets, and providing vital daily services for the well-being of organizations. She is currently working with the CAMTech Uganda team in spearheading programs that accelerate innovations of new and affordable medical technologies at MUST, leading the running of the innovations eco system at MUST, organizing the Uganda CAMTech Medtech Hackathons, and providing mentorship to teams of student innovators. She also plays the role of initiating partnerships and collaborations that support innovation at MUST,, developing working systems to support incubation of innovations in the CAMTech co creation lab. While at CAMTech Uganda, she has gained experience supporting innovators in developing business models for their innovations, applying for and managing grants. When she is not supporting innovation, Lydia is an innovator herself, having recently worked with the Nyweza team to win first place at the 2015 Grand Hack healthcare hackathon, organized by MIT Hacking Medicine. Besides her current responsibilities,Lydia has more than three years of experience working with rural communities. Before joining CAMTech Uganda, she worked as Project Director for a Compassion International aided project in Western Uganda, implementing rural based programs and campaigns that supported girl child and adult education, women empowerment, poverty eradication and the fight against HIV/AIDS..
